The Bakehouse
Wake N’ Bakehouse is home-based micro bakery offering small batches of handcrafted naturally leavened rustic bread. Located in central Sparks, our home is a humble 1000sq feet with an average kitchen and electric home oven. Though the thought of investing some industrial equipment has crossed my mind, I am making do with what I have.
My baking is structured around working a full-time job, tending to a small homestead, vacations, camping, family, friends, and you know…LIFE. Most of my baking happens on weekends, evenings, and early mornings; meaning an after-work schedule of grinding flour, mixing dough, several rounds of “stretching & folding”, plus a final shaping of dough in between walking the dog, cooking dinner, and a few episodes of our favorite weeknight reruns. This also means waking up early to preheat my oven and get the loaves loaded in time to get out the door for work – all while packing lunches, downing some coffee, and swatting the smoke detector a few times (a.k.a. my husbands alarm clock). I like to call this a wake-n-bake.
On Friday's, I open up my home to customers who order bread from me almost weekly. A little music plus a cute sign at the front door and I almost feel like I own my own bakery...
